Hair Removal through Laser, Wax, and Cream Treatment

In our supremely image-conscious society, there are few cosmetic battles waged with as much vigor and as consistently as the battle against unsightly and prickly hair!  Especially for women, though even in the cases of certain men, there are simply certain areas of our bodies that we would like to see without hair—or at least without incredibly prominent and noticeable tufts of hair poking out into plain sight.  As a result, the hair loss industry is a multi-million dollar operation that has reached out to every last corner of the globe, in search of defiant and spindly little hairs that just don’t want to capitulate!

One excellent option for hair removal is to get laser treatment.  The main advantage of getting laser hair removal treatments is that the results are permanent.  In the world of hair removal connoisseurs, that is known as an epilatory technique, as opposed to depilatory methods which are temporary in their results (we’ll cover some below).  This is an area that is continuing to grow and evolve, as is to be expected of a practice that involves supremely hi-tech gadgetry and procedures.  The optimum results will be achieved by people with a light skin/dark hair combination, though progress has been made in accomplishing better results for other skin/hair color combinations.

Hair removal through waxing is surely one of the most traditional and effective methods of hair removal.  By applying hot wax on the area of skin containing the unwanted hair, the wax literally “surrounds” the hair and grabs it as close to the follicle as possible, thereby bringing out as much of the entire strand of hair as possible and thus delaying the hair’s unwanted return.

Finally, there are creams for hair removal that act by quite literally disintegrating the hair and making it easy to simply wipe the hair away, without damaging the skin.  These chemical depilatory techniques generally use a chemical compound known as calcium thyoglicolate, which breaks apart the proteins that constitute each and every strand of hair.  The possibility of skin irritation is present, though generally does not pose much of an issue for most users.
