How to Choose the Best Face Wash for Your Skin

As more and more women are becoming smarter about the products they use, face wash has come to the forefront. Women aren’t too keen on just a regular old bar of soap anymore, especially as normal soap strips away the skin’s natural oils. Face washes are specially formulated to benefit delicate facial skin; however, there are different types of face soaps made for different skin types. It is important that you analyze your skin type in order to get the right type of facial wash.

There are five different types of skin classes: dry, oily, combination, normal and sensitive. In order to test your skin type grab a clean tissue and wipe your face with it in the morning after you get up. If you have oily skin, you’ll notice oil on the tissue. Those with normal skin will notice no oil and their skin will not feel tight nor flaky. If there is only oil at the center of the face, this denotes combination skin. If your skin feels tight and parched, you’ve got dry skin. Sensitive skin tends to break out when new products are used; it is also blotchy and prone to redness.

Normal skin should be treated with a gentle cleanser twice daily and followed by a mild toner such as rose water.

Dry skin needs to be cleansed with a creamy wash. The cleanser should be applied and then wiped away with a cotton ball. That can be followed with a simple splash of cold water and an application of dry skin lotion.

For those with oily skin a facial wash containing an anti-bacterial agent will help keep the skin clear and blemish free.

Combination skin should be treated with a balanced combination of dry skin and oily skin treatments. A foaming wash works wonders in the morning. In the evening a softer cream cleanser should be used to restore much needed moisture.

If you have sensitive skin use a light cleansing lotion. Test new products on your arm. Stay away from harsh astringents and cleansing washes.
